HISTORY

1998 – The Kyle Valley League under their Secretary (Roger Green) and Chairman (Gordon Hanson), challenged the Selby League to a match involving 12 triples on each side playing for a new trophy to be known as the Inter-League Cup. The match took place at the Y&D IBC in Acomb with the full support of their late manager, Gordon Little. This required the transportation of 12 mats to York and the setting up on the Friday evening by a willing team of volunteers.
1999 -The Scarborough League was invited to join in and this 3 cornered contest took place annually for the next 8 years. During this time, it was the largest competition ever organized in the county involving 108 players on 12 mats.
1998-2000 – Selby League wins
2000-2007 – Kyle Valley League wins
2003 – The Kyle Valley league passed control and responsibility over to the NYSMBA
2008 – Scarborough league dropped out. The Cup was then renamed The Little Cup in memory of Gordon and the competition was completely reformatted into its present open format in which teams of 4 play 2 games as 2 Pairs and 2 games as a Single and a Triple.
2011 – The match was re-located to the Galtres center from the Y&D IBC.
2015 – Not held due to no Competition Secretary.
2016 – The BSA club agreed to host and organise it on a trial basis.
2017/18 – Not held.
2019 – With a new Competition Secretary in place the Little Cup once again went ahead under the NYSMBA and hopefully now has a secure future.
2021 – Not held – pandemic
2025 –  Entries opened to adjacent counties in an attempt to boost numbers
