Little Cup 2023

The Little Cup is the oldest of our county competitions and this year 16 teams took part. Each team of 4 players had six games – three playing as a Single and a Triple and three playing as 2 Pairs. Games were timed with Singles and Pairs getting 25 minutes and Triples 30 minutes. The format was relaxed with a 10 minute break between every other session and 40 minutes for lunch. Only one team managed to win all their games and claim the 24 points available. This was Matthew Jackson, Paul Whitcombe, Rose Haynes and Simon Holtby (Great Ouseburn) who get their names on the Cup, along with 1st prize of £100. The runners up with 18 points were James & Janet Clark and Roger & Diane Ellis, who earned the 2nd prize of £50.  A table of results is available on the Little Cup page.

Raffle – As is usual at all County Competitions, a raffle, usually for NYSMBA funds, had been organized by Pat Jones. However in view of the distressing events arising out of the recent massive earthquake in Turkey/Syria, the committee had agreed that all proceeds (doubled up from NYSMBA funds) would be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee Appeal. Therefore a total of £350 has now been donated. Many thanks to all those who supported this decision.
