Little Cup 2024

Originally started in 1998 (in a different format), the Little Cup is the oldest of our county competitions so it was a little disappointing that only 12 teams had entered this year. Each team consisted of 4 players and had six games – three playing as a Single/Triple and three playing as 2 Pairs. Games were timed with Singles and Pairs getting 25 minutes and Triples 30 minutes of play. The format was relaxed with a 10 minute break between every other session and 40 minutes for lunch.

An undefeated team could score 24 points but in fact none achieved this. Two teams however managed to win all but one of their games and scored  22 points. With a shot difference of 57 it was North Duffield’s Steve & Pauline Duffin together with daughter Lily and James Clark who claimed the £40 runners up prize whilst, just ahead with a shot difference of 64 it was Matthew Jackson, Paul Whitcombe, Debbie Taylor and Simon Holtby (Great Ouseburn) who get their names on the Cup, along with 1st prize of £80. This was the 3rd consecutive win for Matthew, Paul and Simon albeit with different lead bowlers. A table of results is available on the Little Cup page.

Raffle – As is usual at all County Competitions, a raffle, (usually for NYSMBA funds), had been organized by Pat Jones. This year the committee had agreed that all proceeds (doubled up from NYSMBA funds) would be donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Therefore a total of £100 will be donated in due course. Many thanks to Pat and all those who supported the raffle.
