Scarborough Pairs

Sunday March 26th: After an absence of 3 years the Scarborough SMBC once again held it annual open Pairs competition. Renamed as the “Last Ditch Pairs” in recognition of its new date at the end of the season (as opposed to its previous regular New Year date) it attracted 12 entries with players representing 7 clubs who all had 4 x 40 minute timed games during the day.

This years winners were Annette and Martyn Robinson (Wolds) who were undefeated with 8 points and were presented with the Charles Malliband Cup and £25. Phil Ralph and David Orchard (Wolds) were the runners up with +21 shots (£15) and in 3rd place were Cyril Ruston and Graham Stephenson with +14 shots (£10). Someone always has to come last and this years honour went to Betty and Ian Ding (Wolds) who received a pair of pears!

Watch out for the 2024 Pairs to be held next year just before Easter on March 24th.
