Easingwold Open Triples

The 26th annual Easingwold SMBC Open Triples competition took place on Saturday 3rd February in the Galtres Centre playing for the Jack Freeman Trophy and over £100 in prize money. A total of 34 entries (the largest competition held in the county) were received from 12 North Yorkshire clubs plus 5 teams from Durham and 2 from West Yorkshire.

Each team played 5 games of 40 minutes duration in alternate sessions with 2 points awarded for a win and 1 point for a draw meaning any unbeaten team could score the maximum of 10 points. Although this was not achieved, 7 teams ended the day tied on 8 points. Based on shot difference, the first three places were awarded as follows:

Winners: Matthew Jackson/Rose Haynes/Simon Holtby (Great Ouseburn) 8 points +46 shots
Runners Up: John Goddard/DebbieTaylor/Bob Lilley (Easingwold) 8 points +31 shots
Third place: Ian & Andrea Chiverton/Alan Byers (West Yorkshire) 8 points +25 shots

He thanked those who had set up the venue the previous night, those who helped during the day selling raffle tickets (proceeds to club funds) and clearing away and club Secretary Joyce Hughes (and husband Keith) for the organization and running of the days proceedings.
