TORNADOS, TIGERS & TERRIERS (Fixture 1)
Sunday 19th October Stockport A v NY Tornados.
Stockport A. 32 points. NY Tornadoes 8 points.
Stockport A 207 shots, 24 points, 8 Aggregate points.
NY Tornados 129 shots, 8 points, 0 Aggregate points
Eight squad players were not available for the Tornados selection. Four were in the Norwegian Open, SMPT comp. Holiday’s and last minute conflicting family duties. Squad selection aside, Tornados fielded one debutant.
A 2 points improvement from last year’s corresponding fixture, plus a shot against reduction of 65.
Two very close Fours games in last session could have gone either way. The young England “starlet” proving yet again her inclusion in the team.
Although in singles only one rink ended in victory for young Daniel Agar, it was a tough ask away to recently ranked Number 1 in the world rankings, Peter Roberts. The Tornados captain managed to reduce his shot against score from 25 to 7 on this encounter and narrowly missed out on a win going in at 10 all in the last end in his other set.
Undeterred, the squad will be welcoming reigning Div 1 champions in two weeks, and buoyed by their stalwart efforts in Hyde, looking to give them a good run for their money.

Sunday 19th October West Yorkshire B v NY Tigers.
West Yorkshire B 18 Points. NY Tigers 22 Points.
Our first game of the season saw a clash between the Tigers away to West Yorkshire B.
The captains policy this season is to introduce new bowlers to the team set up and to try new partnerships in all four formats.
It was, as the old saying goes, a game of two halves.
The first two sessions saw the Tigers 10 – 6 down, with the points coming from single wins by the Pairs, Triples and Fours. They were also down in three of the four aggregates, with the outlook as gloomy as the weather outside.
But, after a quick cuppa and sandwich the Tigers came back with a bang!
Although the Singles failed to score any points on the day, the Pairs won another game and overturned a minus 10 aggregate to win the aggregate by 11 shots, a massive turnaround of 21 shots! The Triples also won two more games and the aggregate by 5 shots, as the Fours went onto win their last two games, winning the aggregate by one shot on the final bowl of the day, thus, sealing victory for the Tigers
The final score was West Yorkshire18, Tigers 22. Well done to all the team.
The next game is away to the Terriers, when the Tigers will be hoping for a similar result.

Sunday 19th October Derbyshire v NY Terriers
Derbyshire 16 Points. NY Terriers 24 Points.
North Yorkshire Terriers played their first match of the 25/26 season away to Derbyshire. It was competitively fought with some close matches. However, in the end we achieved 24 points to Derbyshire’s 16 points.
The Triples and Four’s teams gained the aggregate by one point each so securing our win. A great competition with good bowling from both sides.
Sue Parton.
