TORNADOS & TIGERS (Fixture 2) TERRIERS (Fixtures 2 & 3)

TORNADOS 2
TORNADOS 23 v STAFFORDSHIRE 17

What a momentous day of bowls vs the reigning champions, Staffs
The margins were sooo tight. Although they were a man short, and were missing a couple of regular players, you still have to give them so much respect. You have to play what’s in front of you! The score line could have been very different, if only…
Points 19 aggregate 4 = 23 + 177 shots
13 aggregate 4 = 17 + 154 Shots.

We welcomed back 5-6 players that were missing from the Stockport game for a variety of reasons.
Singles and pairs gained 6-10, fours went a point better 7-10
Triples after a five drop made a heroic come back in the last set and missed the aggregate draw by one shot,
ending 12-9.

I can’t praise the bunch highly enough for their endeavours and team spirit. Also, with the help they gave in the refreshments area and sorting out equipment. Every little helps.
Thank you thank you!

What did you think of our new team Mascot? Wee Rory, what a charmer…

Rod Dawson.

TIGERS 2
TIGERS 29 v TERRIERS 11

On Sunday 2nd November, the Tigers were the away team at the Galtres, playing the Terriers.
It’s been over a year since these two North Yorkshire teams last met, with victory to the Tigers home and away on their last two meetings. In a friendly, good natured game, the Tigers came out on top after the first two sessions, 11 – 5 up with the fours and triples unbeaten.

Would the pendulum swing after lunch in favour of the Terriers? Unfortunately not. The Tigers continued to dominate in the third session, winning all the four formats, with good scores helping the aggregate along. There was a glimmer of hope for the Terriers in the fourth and last session as they won three of the four mats, but it wasn’t enough for them as the Tigers finished up as winners 29 – 11 winning all the aggregates on the day, with our triples and fours obtaining the best results.

So, a second away win in a row for the Tigers, with a home game against Derbyshire coming up soon.
Up the Tigers!

Chris Prendergast.

TERRIERS 2 & 3

North Yorkshire Terriers have just had an extremely busy weekend with two county matches. The Saturday match against Stockport B and the Sunday match against North Yorkshire Tigers.

TERRIERS 2
Terriers 17 v Stockport B 23

On Saturday we played against the league leaders Stockport B. We narrowly lost in the singles and pairs in the final ends of the matches. When the aggregate scores were shared the final result was 17 points to North Yorkshire Terriers and 23 points to Stockport B.

TERRIERS 3
Terriers 11 v Tigers 29

Our Sunday match was played against North Yorkshire Tigers. In the singles Shirley Wakefield had an exciting finish to her game. Going into the last end the score was 11-10 to Shirley but she then found herself 3 down. However, she got the shot with the last bowl of the game and won 12-10. Similarly in the pairs Malcolm Dibb was 15-13 up and then the Tigers bowled and the score became 15-16 to the Tigers. With Malcolm’s last shot of the game, he secured a win making the score 16-13 to the Terriers. Another exciting finish for our team! The final score was North Yorkshire Terriers 11 points and North Yorkshire Tigers 29 points.

An incredibly busy weekend bowling!
