Tornados 24 – Humberside Tigers 16
On 10th October, for their opening match, the Tornados took on the Humberside Harriers (Humberside A) at home. In the equivalent match last season, we had come away with a 33-7 win, so hopes were high for a good start to this season.
But was it to be a disaster…..all mats lost in Session 1 – zero points. Could we turn the tide?
In Session 2, not to be disheartened, wins on three mats started the recovery although at lunch we were still 10-6 down.
After the break, the recovery continued with 3 more wins, so going into the final session the team had pulled level at 12-12. A one-shot loss in the Pairs was countered by a one-shot win in the Fours whilst the Singles and Triples had comfortable wins so along with 6 aggregate points the final score was a 24-16 (213-169 shots) victory.
Well done Tornados – a good result after a disappointing start to the day.
