TIGERS (FIXTURE 9) TORNADOES (FIXTURE 10)

01/03/26

Tigers 25 – West Yorkshire B 15.

On Sunday the Tigers went into their last home game of the season against West Yorkshire B, still unbeaten.
Would West Yorkshire be the first team to beat the Tigers? The answer was a resounding NO! The Tigers won 25-15, a great result.

Normally I go through the sessions, but on this occasion I’ll go through the formats instead.
The Singles struggled all day losing all four games.
The Pairs, which were a total change from the last few games did brilliantly, winning two games, losing one, drawing one and taking the aggregate.
The Triples, also had a great day, winning three, drawing one and taking the aggregate, all the games were very close though and could have gone either way.
In the fours, again it was all change and they had a great day winning three, drawing one, and again winning the aggregate by a huge nineteen shot margin.

A great day of bowling, and a great deal of respect between all the bowlers.
Can the Tigers continue their great run with the final game away to Stockport next week? Watch this space!

Tornados 25 – Stockport A 15.

The last Tornados Captain’s report for the season.
So to start a quick numbers review.
NY Tornados. 19 points, 6 Agg, 164 shots, v  Stockport A. 13 points, 2 Agg, 179 shots.

The shots anomaly, for anyone not there watching came from my “side show” in the singles. Some saying why I didn’t play the newly crowned NEYSMB champion in singles? A calculated risk by the Captain. I had asked around knowing full well Peter a regular singles guy in the team was going to be away for that match. As it happened we picked up 6 of the 10 points in the pairs arena so very happy with that…

Plus “Geeuuday me oulde  Cobber” Mathew was back from his sojourn to Oz n NZ looking very refreshed and champing at the bit to back with his 2 regular “Sheila’s”. With beaming smiles all day, the trips sextet ripped up the 10 points on offer. “GIT”!
Along with a notable 7 from 10 in the fours who, have really upped their game this season following on from the euphoria of last week’s last end “Hot Shot 8”. A formidable collection of experience, new faces and youthful ness seems to be well set for the future.
At the lunch interval, I had the joyous job of awarding ‘Hotshots’ certificates to the Four that scored the last end 8 and the three members of the Trips that took a 6 (picture attached) it’s one of the sorts of jobs that really brings joy to this old captains heart.

So, to sum up our season;
Played 10,  won 8, lost 2, and the two losses were at the hands of the top two teams Staffs & Stockport, both of them away games. All in all, from my point of view, progress is very obviously being made.

At this juncture, I must be allowed the freedom to heap high praise on all the Tornados players, and their travelling family members. It has not gone unnoticed by many of our opposition how well the youngsters are looked after and how far they have come on this season.

Thank you to everyone who tirelessly mucks in with setting up the venue on the day, it does not go unnoticed.
On behalf of the team, “Good Luck” to  Jonboy with your new venture. Hurry back, we miss you!

Well done to all and thank you. It’s been a blast…

PS. I’m always looking to strengthen the squad…………..!
