Tigers (fixture 8), Terriers (fixture 8)
Due to last season’s promotions/relegation, both the Tigers and the Terriers were facing up to opposition they had not met last season.
In Division 2, only 6 points currently separated the top 4 teams so a good result for the Terriers against Stockport B would refresh their promotion prospects. With 8 points each from the Singles, Triple and Fours plus a single point from the Pairs, they clocked up a 25-15 (203-154) victory and can be happy that they now lie 4 points ahead of Stockport with a game in hand. With only Durham standing in their way, looks like being a nail biting finish to the season.
In Division 1, the Tigers took on Humberside A down at North Cave knowing that a good result was required to take them out of the relegation zone. However, it was not to be and although the Fours had a very good day only dropping 1 point, the Pairs failed to score and the Triples only had a single win. The Singles had a close tussle but in spite of 2 wins and a draw failed to secure the bonus points so shared the match. The final 16-24 (164-186) result now leaves them 23 points clear at the bottom of the table, but with 2 games to play and points yet to be awarded for their cancelled game against Staffs, all is not lost and there is still hope of escaping relegation.
