Tigers (fixture 6), Tornados (fixture 6)
Sunday December 15
Another double home header to end 2024, with the Tornados playing their 5th consecutive home match, against West Yorkshire A, whilst the Tigers faced up to the Humberside A team.
For the Tornados, the Leeds based team was not to be underestimated. They had shown no mercy to the Tigers 2 weeks ago, winning 31-9, although this was on their home ground. Last year a close tussle had resulted in a 23-17 home win for the Tornados but could this be repeated or bettered? The Singles led the way with a full house of 10 points, backed up by the Fours with another 7 whilst the Triples and Pairs added a further 3 and 4 respectively. This gave a final result of 24-16 (215-157) and their 4th win of the season. With their final 4 matches in the new year all being away, their objective now would seem to realistically be to maintain their 3rd place in division 1.
For the Tigers, this was to be a first time meeting against Humberside’s top steam. They knew the Tornados had had a tough match against them 2 weeks ago eventually securing a 24-16 win but could the Tiger-men do better? It proved a very close run thing. At lunch they were 9-7 up and in the afternoon the points were shared 8-8 as were the 8 aggregate points. This was good enough to give the Tigers their first win of the season by 21-19 (167-182).
All teams are now past the halfway stage with 4 fixtures yet to play so Good Luck to all our players in our 3 teams in 2025.
