Terriers (fixture 7), Tigers & Tornados (fixture 6)

18.12.22:

The Tornados were away for their first match against Humberside A. They knew their main rivals, Stockport and Staffordshire, had scored heavily on their trips to North Cave returning home with 28 and 30 points respectively. Could they do better? Well after a good day with losses in only 3 games (and 2 drawn) the answer was “Yes”, they could and with a 32-8 (216-133) result, they remain in touch. However, they still have to play Stockport twice and scoring heavily against last years Division 1 runners up will present a big challenge.

The Terriers travelled to Leeds for their return against West Yorkshire. Their home match earlier in the season had only produced 8 points so the 16-24 (155-203) result this time was a great effort. However, with Staffordshire and Stockport still to come, their return to Division 2 next seasons now looks unavoidable.

The Tigers were at home against Durham. When they last met 2 years ago they had scored 26 points. This time, weakened by the absence of 4 regular core players, the result was a disappointing 14-26 (155-193) defeat. They remain 2nd in Division 2 with Stockport B (who have a game in hand) 11 points ahead of them. Hopes of promotion this year are therefore not high.
