Terriers – (fixture 10)
The Terriers travelled up to Geordie-land with a hope of promotion in their final match against Durham. After a 25-15 home win against them a couple of weeks ago, the league table showed that 21 points would be required for this hope to be realized. The only problem is that Durham are undefeated at home this year and will no doubt want to maintain this record.
Well, it wasn’t to be. With the Singles and Pairs failing to score and the Triples only picking up a single win, even the 8 points from the Fours could not save the day and the valiant Terriers ended with a 10-30 (191-133) defeat. A disappointing end to an excellent season in which this was only the teams 2nd defeat and sees them end up in 2nd place in Division 2 just 11 points behind Humberside B.
The match saw Roger Ellis (the skip in the Terriers most consistent team), clock up his 100th inter-county match. He joins an exclusive list of just 17 others who have achieved this over the years. Captain Pat Jones presented him with a glass memento of this achievement.
