National heats – Singles, O55 Pairs, U18 Singles
Sunday 19th saw the final 3 heats for this years National Championships.
All players were aiming to finish in the top 4, so that their names could be forwarded to the ESMBA for a possible place in the Finals once our counties allocation was known.
The SINGLES had attracted 12 entries and by the end of the contest those top places were secured by the following players.
1st David Newsome
2nd James Clark
3rd Joseph Newsome
4th Steve Duffin
The O55 PAIRS, which had originally been postponed earlier in the month due to icy conditions, had only 4 entrants. The final placings in this were as follows.
1st Lawrence/Chantal Ireland
2nd Robert Mumford/Pat Jones
3rd Jill Newsome/Anna Naughton
4th Roger/Dianne Ellis
In the U18 SINGLES were 3 of our 5 registered juniors with the final placings as follows.
1st Rafferty Patrick
2nd Lilly Duffin
3rd Toby Trevaskiss
As this contest also doubled up as this years Junior County Championship, Rafferty gets his name on the Junior Cup as this years Junior Champion and in the now traditional target competition, Lilly came out as the winner.
NOTE: The ESMBA have now published their list of places in the Finals and as expected, we have only been allocated a single place in each discipline apart from the Mixed Fours in which we have 2 places for some reason. This reflects the general poor number of entries into the qualifiers which this year totaled 67, as opposed to 183 last year.
