National Finals – U18 Singles

23.3.24 – Melton Mowbray

Our qualifiers raising the flag for North Yorkshire

Lewis  Raff  Lilly  Toby

As in 2024, there were only 25 qualifiers and we had 4 of them. Unfortunately, in spite of some good games none made it through the round robin to the main knockout stage. However they all then had the opportunity to compete in the plate competition for the Woodbridge Trophy (see below)

Our 4 young bowlers travelled to Melton Mowbray to contest the National Under 18 National final’s. In a field of 25 youngsters from 10 counties they all played exceptionally well but missed progressing into the main competition but then all went on to make it into the quarter finals of the Woodbridge trophy competition. However, Toby and Lilly then found themselves playing each other with Toby eventually coming out victorious after going into the final end level. Raff was unlucky too which meant only Lewis and Toby went on into the semi finals. Fortunately they did not meet each other but both had close matches before being rewarded with an all North Yorkshire final. Lewis beat a youngster from Dorset whilst Toby overcame Connie Coates of Essex. In the finals there were some very good shots but consistency and courage paid off for Toby on a great day for North Yorkshire’s young bowlers.
