A and B teams (fixture 10)

Both teams played their final matches last Sunday – the A team at home to Stockport B and the B team away to Durham. Although the B team was in no real danger of losing their position at the top of Division 2 (barring an inconceivable disaster) the results of both matches would determine whether the A would leapfrog over Durham into 2nd place.

Last season the B team scored 17 points in the same match and this year in another very even match they went 1 better losing by 18-22 (-3 shots). A couple more shots in the Fours or 5 more in the Triples would have given them the bonus points and evened up the match.

Meanwhile the A team clocked up their 5th win of the season by 24-16 (+52 shots) after it looked as if a bigger finishing  margin was on the cards. The Triples and Fours were both dissapointed to lose their final game by a single shot meaning the team finally had to settle for 3rd place in the Division.

Congratulations to both teams but especially the B team who, after their best ever season with 7 wins out of 10 will now be promoted into the top Division next year for the very first time.
