CHAMPIONSHIPS – SINGLES RESULT
Singles 29/11/25
The thirty-three entrants (down seven from last year’s forty) were drawn into eight groups (1 x 5 & 7 x 4) for the round robin which was played over six sessions using eleven mats. All group winners plus the “next best” eight then played in the Last 16 round with the winners contesting the Quarter-Finals. These produced the following results:-
Daniel Agar v Ian Ding (13-4)
Matthew Jackson v David Newsome (4-9)
Arthur Jackson v David Herbert (9-10)
Steve Duffin v James Clark (14-9)
The Semis were then won by David (N) who overcame Daniel (11-3) and Steve who beat David (H) (10-9).
David then went on to defeat Steve in a closely fought 8-7 Final, thus becoming this year’s Singles Champion for the fourth time, having won it previously in 2018, 2019 & 2020.
All games were played over ten ends. The Umpires for the day were Humberside’s Eva Dayes and Timothy Pearson from West Yorkshire. The day ended at 5.15pm, with the County Chair, Joseph Newsome thanking all those who attended and everyone who had contributed to the organisation of the day, especially those not competing who had turned out on Friday evening to help with the setting up of the hall.
