NATIONAL FINALS – U18 Singles

Although the NYSMBA was originally only awarded a single place, Rafferty Patrick was joined by Lilly Duffin who was offered a wild card due to others dropping out. A total of 28 youngsters took part  in 7 groups of 4. Both our two won 2 of their 3 games –  Raff 20-3, 12-6 and 7-9 and Lilly 13-6, 11-10 and 10-7. A good start as this put them in 2nd place in their groups and enabled them to progress into the main knockout competition – an improvement over last year.

However here their day finally came to an end with a 4-13 defeat for Raff and and 8-10 defeat for Lilly.

This concluded a fine short mat season for both of these young players who have been regularly selected to play in the county Tornados team, as well as playing for the England U21s team against Wales recently. They can only go from strength to strength. Future National Champions?
