CHAMPIONSHIPS – Triples results

Saturday December 7th: The 4th of this years County Championships, the TRIPLES, saw 23 entries (1 less than last season) taking part. This meant that the entrants were grouped in 2 groups of 4 and 3 groups of 5 for the round robin sessions. These resulted in the elimination of the bottom 7 teams with the remaining 16 (5 group winners and the next best 11) going in to the first of the KO rounds. After these another 8 left the party leaving the final 8 to play in the Quarter Finals. The results of these were as follows.

Roger & Diane Ellis and Samantha Stacey v Robert Mumford, Mark Dobson and Jean Jones  9-7
Pete Sayer, Richard Lochman and Ken Taylor v Alan & Pat Banthorpe and Gill Fletcher  7-3
Malcolm & Sue Dibb and Pat Jones v David, Joseph & Jill Newsome  5-4
Mathew Jackson, Les Lambert and Caroline Harris v Arthur Jackson, Dennis Jarvis and Sue Pittham  8-3

In the Semi Finals, Matthew’s day came to an end at the hands of Pete’s triple 10-6 whilst Malcolm’s three were sent home after close 4-5 defeat by Roger & Co.

The Final was therefore between the trios of Roger and Pete with the latter taking this years Triples title by 8-5.
