Terriers (fixture 5) & Tigers (fixture 9)

3.3.24

The Terriers were playing away against Durham, a match originally due to be played on December 3 but which was postponed due to icy conditions. The Singles secured 2 points apiece plus the 2 bonus points with a +23 shot difference but the Pairs went down big time with no points and a shot deficit of -50. The Triples have proved to be the most reliable discipline in this team and true to form only lost a single game gaining another 8 points. The Fours struggled but just managed 2 points after a 9-8 win. The overall result was therefore 24-16 (207-164) to the Geordies. The Terriers are now very briefly at the top of Division 2 alongside the Tigers whose results for today have still to come in (see below).

Having not played since November 19th, the Tigers travelled to North Cave where they hoped to match or better the Terriers 21-19 win there back in November. After great morning sessions, they were looking good at lunch lying 12-4 up. However, the home team rallied with a vengeance and took the afternoon sessions by 14-2. They also claimed 3 of the 4 bonus points so the day ended with a disappointing match defeat (only the second this season) by 16-24 (147-171). With 2 games yet to be played, their position at the top of the division should still remain secure although they cannot relax just yet as next week they play Derbyshire who are snapping at their heels just 3 shots behind.
