CHAMPIONSHIPS – Mixed Fours results

Saturday November 11th:  In the first of this year’s 7 County Championships, there were 12 entries (which was just one down on last year) and 7 of these were also Nationals entrants. The day commenced at 0930 and all games were played over 7 ends. A random draw had placed the entries into in 3 groups of 4 giving everyone a guaranteed 3 games against the others in their group after which the bottom 4 teams were eliminated. Group winners and the Next Best 5 then played the Quarter Finals, the results of which were……

Alan Banthorpe v Ian Ding 8-5
Simon Holtby v Dave Herbert 13-4
David Newsome v Rod Dawson 8-6
David Brown v Chris Prendergast 8-6

In the Semi Finals, David Newsome dispatched Alan Banthorpe 12-1 and Simon Holtby overcame David Brown 8-2.

So for the 3rd year running the Final was fought out between the North Duffield Newsome family (David, Joseph, Jill and Danielle) and a Four from Great Ouseburn (Simon, Brenda, Rose and Matthew). A well contested battle ensued in which Ouseburn were always in with a chance although Duffield always had the edge leading to the final score of 7-2.

Thanks to the umpire for the day, Dave Money (Humberside) and to Pat Jones for organising the raffle which raised £104.
