Northern Ladies v Northern Gents

A team of 40 Ladies took on a team of 40 Gents to kick start the 2022 season at the Galtres Centre in Easingwold. This novel event was organized and run jointly by North Yorkshire’s Safeguarding Officer, Jill Newsome, and Chairman Joseph Newsome. The teams were made up from players from across all of the Northern counties and the format was mainly Fours. The day started with a short silence in honour of the late Queen and all players were issued with a small black crocheted heart to wear in her memory during the day. The Gents were victorious and took possession of the massive Trophy, but this is really incidental.  The main thing was that all enjoyed this new event, and it is hoped it will become an annual fixture. Well done Jill, Joseph, all helpers and all participants. A great way to start this season. (Note that any excess funds from the day will be donated to the NYSMBA chosen charity – the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.)   Note that a £300 donation to YAA was made on Oct 1st
