9th PAIRS TOURNAMENT 2006 - Saturday 11th November 2006 - The annual Pairs Day was attended by full teams from 7 of the leagues 11 clubs. Yoredale, Raskelf, Tollerton and Great Ouseburn could not take part although the latter 3 clubs did field a combined team under the hybrid name of Great Raskerton. With both Hambleton and Easingwold entering two teams, the competition therefore featured a total entry of 10 teams of four pairs.
In order to give all teams a fair days play, the day was organised into 14 x 30 minute sessions - each team played in just 4 of these sessions giving a maximum number of points possible over the course of the day of 32. Although St. Cuthberts, Easingwold A and Knaresborough were all in with a chance towards the end it was Boroughbridge who finally ended as clear winners having lost only 3 of their 16 games. Easingwold A, last years winners, were beaten into 3rd place on shot difference by St. Cuthberts who ended as runners up.
