Knaresborough 46 lost to Boroughbridge I 56
10th PAIRS TOURNAMENT 2006 - Saturday 27th October 2007 - Once again only 7 of the leagues 11 clubs were able to take part but with the largest 3 clubs entering 2 teams each, the competition still involved 10 teams of 4 pairs (80 players). Teams were organised into two groups of 5 so that everyone enjoyed 4 matches during the day. The scoring this year was revised to include the 4 points awarded for the overall aggregate in each match (that is normal in the leagues fixture matches) and this increased the maximum possible score over the day from 32 to 48 points. The two Easingwold teams took full advantage of playing in their home venue with their A team only dropping 8 points over the whole day whilst their B team just eased last years champions, Boroughbridge into 3rd place. (See PhotoGallery) The table below shows the final placings.
(The day had started on a sad note with a tribute to Bernard Marshall, one of the areas more 'colourful' bowlers. Bernard, who had played Short Mat since the early 90s, had been a member of several clubs and had recently died whilst playing in Raskelf's away fixture against the St. Cuthberts SMBC at Crayke.)
