8th PAIRS TOURNAMENT 2005 - Saturday 29th October 2005 - This annual competition was held a month earlier that in previous years to avoid a clash with the Kirbymisperton Triples but never-the-less four of the leagues eleven clubs were still unable to take part. With new club Branton making their first appearance and Hambleton and Easingwold both entering two teams this years competition therefore featured a total entry of nine teams of four pairs . The day was organised into 12 sessions of 35 minutes and each team had 4 matches with the maximum points possible over the course of the day being 32. In a much closer competition than last year only 5 points separated the top 6 teams with two sharing the top slot on 22 points. However, as is usually the case with a tie, the winner was determined on shot difference so for the second year running it was Easingwold 'A' who claimed the Trophy with Knaresborough being awarded the runners up Shield. Knaresborough also produced the best individual performance this year in Derek and Pat Beardsley who were the only Pair to remain undefeated. (see PhotoGallery)
