ESMBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 'Nationals' are the flagship annual open competitions organised by the ESMBA

Members may enter in any or all of 5 disciplines and there is also a Singles event for U18s only

Since 2006/07, separate local HEATS are no longer held.

All entrants must instead take part in the relevant County Championships to seek qualification

Allocation of places in National Finals

Every year there are 64 places available in the National Finals (32 in the Mixed Fours and U18s) and each county may be allocated up to four places by the ESMBA organisers. Each county holding heats is allocated a single place automatically (provided there are four or more entries to the Heats) and the remaining places are allocated dependent upon a formula based on the total entries received nationally. Basically this means that the more entries there are from our county the more likely we are to be allocated additional places.

2002 - and all previous years. A single place in each discipline was allocated

2003 - Two places allocated in the Pairs (17 entries) and the U18 Singles (7 entries).

2004 - Two places allocated in the Pairs (19 entries), the Fours (8 entries) and the U18 Singles (6 entries)

2005 - Two places allocated in the Pairs (14 entries), the Triples (9 entries) and the U18 Singles (6 entries)

2006 - Two places allocated in the Fours (6 entries) and the U18 Singles (6 entries)

2007 - Two places allocated in ALL disciplines. Entries were S (18); P (14); T (9); F (6); MF (8); U18 (8)

2008 - Two places allocated in the Singles (17 entries), Triples (9 entries), Fours (5 entries) and the U18 Singles (4 entries). Note that a 2nd place was offered at the last minutes in the Pairs (9 entries) due to drop-outs.
