ALAN BANTHORPE - (Sunday Mar 6th 2011) At the 'B' teams penultimate match of the season at home to West Yorkshire, Alan Banthorpe was presented with a glass trophy to commemorate the playing of his 100th game representing the County.
KEN CALVERT - (Sunday Feb 6 2011) - At the 'A' teams Away match today in Leeds (versus West Yorkshire) Ken Calvert was presented with a glass Trophy to commemorate that this was his 100th game representing the County. Before the presentation, Vice Captain Jo Newsome pointed out that Ken had played his first IC match in 1993 and has played in each of the 17 years since then. At 84 years, his age was equal to the sum of the 4 youngest members of the team but never the less his contribution was still of great value to the teams success over recent years. His bowling "career" had seen him win many competitions over the years, most notably the NESMBA Championship Pairs (1998) and Singles (2003). In the latter, Jo reminded those present that he had forced Darren Cookson (a member of todays opposition) to an extra end before taking the title. Ken, who is only the 5th North Yorkshire player to achieve the "ton", was then presented with the Trophy by Captain Rose Haynes. (See PhotoGallery)
COUNTY 'A' TEAM PRACTICE DAY - (Sunday October 3rd) - Due to a fixture re-arrangement this date had become free and whilst the 'B' team were playing their first match up at Durham, Rose Haynes, the new 'A' team Captain organised a day of practice for the whole team (although 3 were absent due to sickness). After a short silence in memory of Ralph Parsons, a full days bowling was enjoyed by all with everyone playing in all 4 sessions. The first and last sessions were played in the disciplines and positions for which team members had been selected whilst the middle 2 sessions were used to mix team members around a bit to play in different positions and with different players. A useful day as the team prepares to defend their title as NESMBA Champions.
