2011/12 - (5th November) This year Gristhorpe (-5) left us after 18 years but Stewarts (Pocklington) joined (+19). For the remainder, 17 clubs registered an increase in members, 18 a loss whilst 9 remained static. The largest increases were all in the East of the county at Barn (+7), Crossgates (+6), Scarborough (+8) and at Yedingham who virtually doubled their numbers (+7). The largest reduction was at Hambleton (-11) with notable losses also at Eggborough (-6), Stillington (-5) and Wilberfoss (-6). However, the good news is that the overall downward trend of the last few years has at last been reversed with the total number for the year so far standing at 906 (of which 30 are Juniors - a record).

Subsequent additional registrations (to Jan 24) are 15 giving a new total of 921.

2010/11 - (12th November) Although Church Fenton started up and joined us this season with a healthy initial membership of 24, both Campsall (5) and Burton Leonard (11) decided to leave our ranks. 13 of the existing clubs increased their numbers marginally although the small club at Escrick increased their numbers by 50% (from 10 to 15) after a local recruitment campaign. The numbers at a further 9 clubs remained static but the remain half of our clubs all lost members. North Duffield and Knaresborough lost 6 members each whilst Helmsley, Gristhorpe, Crossgates and Boroughbridge lost another 18 members between them. The total number of registered members now stands at 880 (of which 18 are Juniors).

Subsequent additional registrations for the year are 19 giving a new total for the year of 899 (incl. 23 Juniors) - but still the lowest since 1999.

2009/10  - Strensall rejoined (our 46th club) but with only 5 registered members. Of the existing clubs, 18 registered additional members (Stillington and E Cottingwith with +5) but 24 registered less and 3 remained static.  Of those registering fewer members, Darley, Hambleton and Kirkbymoorside all registered 7 less with Boroughbridge contracting by 6 and  Bubwith and Campsall by 5. The total number of members now stands at 888 - the lowest since 1999.

Subsequent additional registrations up to March 17th are 20 giving a final total for the year of 908 (but still the lowest since 1999!)

2008/09 - Pateley Bridge and Strensall left the Association this year - a loss of 24 members. In the remaining clubs, there were the usual ups and downs in members being registered - 23 recording a reduction, 17 an increase and 5 static. Of those registering fewer members the largest decrease, 29,  was at Crossgates with Helmsley and Kirbymisperton both reducing by 8. The final disappointing total of 900 (as at 21/11/08) is the lowest for 10 years.

Subsequent additional registrations up to April 1st are 14  - new total = 914

2007/08 - Bolton Abbey left the Nidderdale league and failed to renew their membership this year due to dwindling interest in competitive bowling. They join Guisborough who folded during last season and these two together meant a loss of 17 members. However the effect of this was lessened by Seaton Ross who joined with 11 new members. Of the other 46 clubs, 18 increased their membership but 21 lost members. Of the latter, Knaresborough's membership was 15 down whilst both Carlton and Crossgates reduced by 11 each. Six clubs remained static. The overall effect of all these changes was that the final total was 958 - the lowest total for four years.  On the bright side, 7 clubs now have a Junior member (or members) with 28 Juniors being registered in total.

(Subsequent additional registrations are 11 including 6 Juniors) - new total = 969

2006/07 - New club Snaith & East Cowick joined with 21 members; 26 clubs lost members; 14 gained members; 7 were unchanged. During the course of the season Guisborough (6 members) announced its intention to cease functioning. The final total was 1013.

2005/06 - Although half our clubs lost members this season, nearly half showed an increase (four were unchanged) which together with new club Branton, left us with a net gain of 15 over last year and a final record total of 999. However at the Committee meeting on February 3rd, the entry of two further clubs (Campsall and Kirklevington) was approved, pushing us through the 1000 barrier for the first time and giving us a final total of 1023. (Subsequently, the registration of additional members pushed the final total to 1025).

2004/05 - We welcomed three new clubs this year (Crossgates, Guisborough and Yedingham) and lost our smallest club - Cyphers, who decided to curtail their activities. After all the initial registrations were received (end of November), 11 clubs showed some growth but 24 had shrunk with 6 staying the same. This led to a drop in total numbers of 11 to 958. Cayton reduced dramatically in size (-56) with many of their members joining the new club at Crossgates (+71) whilst Knaresborough (-12), Kirkbymoorside (-8) and Melbourne (-6) all reduced significantly. One encouraging area is that we now have 25 Junior members although only 6 clubs have been able to attract and retain them. With additional registrations to come, we expect eventually to exceed last years final total but will still end up well short of the "magic" 1000 target. (Apr'05 - with the final additional registrations now received, the total has grown to a new record of 984).

2003/04 - The final club registration sheets were not received until the end of November although the deadline is the end of October. There were 19 clubs that increased their membership and overall there were 143 new registrations. However there were also 19 clubs which reduced in size and there were 131 members who dropped out this year. Four clubs remained unchanged. This made this years initial total to be 959. With 8 more registrations during the season this gave an increase of only twelve but an increase never-the-less. Our biggest three clubs are Cayton (83), Knaresborough (44) and Helmsley (41). The biggest increase was at Scarborough where they welcomed nine new members whilst Strensall reduced their registrations by eight.  This years age profile shows 66% of members to be 65 or older with only 7% younger than 50. (With additional registrations during the season, the final number of members grew to 967).

2002/03 - The number of members initially registered was 944. This was disappointing as we welcomed two new clubs (Wilberfoss and Burton Leonard) and were hoping to break the 1000 member barrier. There was growth in 12 clubs, 10 remained static but 18 showed reductions. Of the latter, the drop was substantial in 3 clubs in particular. These were Easingwold (-17), Flixton (-12) and Thornton Dale (-10). Of the final total, 58% were aged 65 or over whilst only 8% were younger than 50 leaving 34% in the 50-64 range. (Additional registrations during season have added another 11 members - final total now 955 - Feb. 03)
